Yule Family History

Dave's family came down from Scotland in the 1930's. I won't print a tree here but a list of names that I have found connected with this family. I have researched back to the 1700's. Most from around the Dundee area. Please feel free to email me with any possible connections.

David Yule b. 1793 d.1853/ Elizabeth Chalmers b. 1793 m.1815

David Yule was born in Collace, Perthshire. He married Elizabeth Chalmers on 23 Sept 1815. Their children were William, David, Margaret Angus, Thomas Chalmers, Mary Ann Lumgair and Elizabeth. Elizabeth Yule nee Chalmers was born on 3 May 1793 in Dundee, the daughter of George Chalmers and Jean Lindsay. David died on 28 Jan 1853 at Isles Lane, Dundee and was buried at Bell Lane. Elizabeth died on 22 December 1882 at 30 Isles Lane, Dundee and was buried at Eastern Cemetery.

William Yule b. 1817/Helen Dorward b. abt. 1816 m .1841

William Yule was born on 10 August 1817 in Dundee, Angus. He married Helen Dorward on 26 November 1841 in Dundee. Their children were David, William, Alexander Tyrie, Helen Elder, Thomas and Mary Dorward. William died on 30 August 1863 at Dundee Royal Infirmary. Helen died on 11 March 1883 at 2 Park Wynd, Dundee. Helen was the daughter of David Dorward and Isabella Tyrie.

Thomas Yule b.1850/Jane Duncan b. abt. 1852 m. 1872

Thomas Yule was born in 1850 in Dundee. He married Jane Duncan on 13 Sept 1872. Their children were David and William. Thomas died in 1883 at Dunblane Railway station. We have no idea why he was there. Neither he nor Jane appear on the 1881 census. His death certificate says he was the widower of Jane Duncan, but Jane's end is a mystery. Her death cannot be found in Scotland or England. Jane was the daughter of David Duncan and Isabella Marshall.

William Yule b. 1875/ Robina Sydie b. 1879 m. 1902

William Yule was born om 25 Dec 1875 in Dundee. He married Robina Sydie on 28 March 1902 at Camperdown Hall, Dundee. They had more than one child but I am not sure of them all, so for the moment they had David Sydie my husbands grandfather. William was called to war and died in Zonnebeke, Belgium on Friday 23 November 1917. Robina was born on 12 April 1879 at 13 Graham Place, Dundee, she died on 28 April 1959 in Dundee. She was the daughter of George Sydie and Judith Grey Richardson.

David Sydie Yule b. 1911 / Jean Smith Stirton Robertson in b. 1915 m. 1936.

My husbands parents. David Sydie Yule was born on 29 March 1911 in Dundee. He married Jean Smith Stirton Robertson on 3 October 1936 at the Masonic Hall, Dundee. They had 3 children all still living. David Sydie Yule died on 17 July 1955 in Solihull, West Midlands. Jean was born on 24 April 1915 at Graham Place, Dundee. She died on 8 August 1999 in Solihull, West Midlands. Her parents were James Stratton Robertson and Georgina Traill.

George Sydie b. 1850/Judith Grey Richardson b.1850 m. 1872

George Sydie, Baker, married Judith Grey Richardson on 16 October 1872 in Dundee. Their daughter Robina was born in 1879. George was the son of  George Sydie and Elizabeth Leighton. Judith was the daughter of  James Richardson and Robina Mitchell.

George Sydie b. 1823/Elizabeth Leighton m. 1841 

George Sydie was born on 12 April 1823 at Alyth, Perth. He was the son of Peter Sydie and Janet Kinmonth. He married Elizabeth Leighton on 4 June 1841 at Dundee.

James Richardson b.1826/Robina Mitchell b.1826

James Richardson was born on 30 Sept 1826, the son of James Richardson and Jean Russell.  He married Robina Mitchell on 25 Nov 1831 at St Cuthberts, Edinburgh. Robina was born in Midlothian. She was the daughter of James Mitchell and Mary Hossack.

David Dorward abt.1790 d. 1855/Isabella Tyrie abt.1790. m.1808

David Dorward and Isabella Tyrie married on 5 March 1808. David died on 24 April 1855.

James Richardson/Jean Russell

Jean Russell was born on 31 December 1786, the daughter of George Russell and Janet Neil.

David Duncan/Isabella Marshall m. 1850

David Duncan and Isabella Marshall were married on 5 April 1850 at Liff, Blair and Invergowrie. Their daughter Jane was born about 1852. David was the son of David Duncan (lawyer) and Margaret Stewart. David died on 29 February 1860 at 72 Hillside, Dundee.

James Mitchell/Mary Hossack m. 1810

James Mitchell and Mary Hossack were married in Glasgow on 8 April 1810.

George Chalmers b.1758/Jean Lindsay b. 1755 m. 1781

George Chalmers b.1725/Margaret Hoy b. abt. 1729 m.1747

William Lindsay b. abt.1733/Isobel Broun abt. 1733 m. abt 1752

John Chalmers b.1700/Isabell Hill
